Tomorrow sees the launch of the latest limited edition collection from Illamasqua, in which may possibly be one of their bestsellers yet. The Vanitas collection, inspired by the dark romance of 17th century still-life painting. Pale rose tones, blended with smoky purple hues and rustic warm browns allow you to create both delicate and dramatic makeup looks.

The Rose Gold Palette (£44) is a welcomed nude eyeshadow palette that holds a variety of shades, from champagne hues to deep purples and rich browns. It includes 12 of Illamasqua’s best-selling shades, while also introducing a new plum and black coffee shade to the mix . A thoughtful combination of matte and shimmer will see this palette flatter all skin tones.

Encased in simple rose gold packaging with a magnetic lid, you’d be forgiven for mistaking the Rose Gold Palette for a large slab of wrapped chocolate if you were not paying attention.

Top row: Slink (Champagne), Stealth (Buttermilk), Servant (Eggshell), Vernau (Yellow Ochre), Bronx (Bronze Gold), Wolf (Chocolate Brown)
Bottom row: Forgiveness (Chocolate Plum), Fist (Deep Plum), Wolf (Chocolate Brown), Fist (Deep Plum), Rim (Black Coffee), Tango (Rich Copper Bronze), Terra (Earth Clay Red), Obsidian (Rich Black)

I love the warm shades in this palette, in particular the purples – they’re lovely! The palette on a whole is ideal for a tamed nude or heavier smoky eye and can be used both day and night. My only gripe would be the packaging , as cardboard can take a battering if you’re not careful with it. I think a metal rose gold case would have looked amazing.

Also in this capsule collection, are five gorgeous looking creamy matte lipsticks (£22.50) in some fab shades. Take your pick from the likes of Wanton (Lilac Rose) to Born (Nude) for a sensual pout. The other two shades are Resist (Dusky Rose) and Shard (Red Violet).
