I love trying new bath and shower products, the nicer they are, the better start I have to my day!
Earth friendly skincare brand, Burt’s Bees have launched a new Body Spa range. The new line is made up of body butters, exfoliating body scrubs and nourishing body bars – available in three yummy flavours: Mango & Orange, Honey & Shea and Cranberry and Pomegranate.
My previous experience of Burt’s Bees products have been hit and miss. I like the chapsticks, but loathed the Natural Anti-Blemish Solutions Pore Refining Scrub – which I think is utter rubbish and was consequently a complete waste of my money! Anyway, yesterday morning I tried both the Mango & Orange body bar and body scrub, with mild trepidation and here’s what I thought.
I was a bit dubious about the Energising Body Bar (£4.99)and wasn’t expecting it to live up to much. I haven’t used soaps to wash with since I was a child, so testing this French-milled soap bar, transported me back to the 80s in a flash. I used it with an exfoliating glove and surpisingly it mustered up a very rich, non-drying lather in seconds upon contact with water.
After rinsing my skin didn’t feel tight and I guess this was due to the Mango & Orange oils, combined with Cocoa Seed Butter present in the bar. It did a good job of cleansing my skin too and didn’t feel or smell artificial – very pleasant actually. I followed it up with the Revitalising Mango & Orange Sugar Scrub (£12.99). The scrub is protected from contamination with a foil lid. A minor grumble is that I had to grab a pen to stab it with, in order to break the seal and then peel it off, It would have been easier if part of the seal had overlapped the edge – I could have just pulled on that and easily removed the foil.
The fruit oils were sitting on the top of the scrub when I peeled back the protective covering…
…so it was only right to give it a good stir!
The scrub is made up out of sugar crystals combined with orange peel and mango seed oils. It smells really nice ..fruity (obviously) and leaves a slight oily residue on the skin after rinsing. After moisturising my skin felt silky smooth with the combined use of both products and I could still feel the effects late last night before I went to bed.
All in all, I was pleasantly surprised. They’re both good products which don’t break the bank and I think this line will be a hit with Burt’s Bees loyal customers.
