I’m often a creature of habit, at times hesitant to try new things for fear of them not working out and having to deal with the aftermath. This has long been reflected in my hair, which has been subjected to my go-to style of crochet braids for almost FOUR years! It’s safe to say that I’m tired (TIRED!) of this said style, having worn it to to death (literally) and moving forward I’m all for being more adventurous with my hair.
So I decided to experiment with a weave again. My last experience at Errol Douglas was a positive one and I loved the finished look, so my faith had been restored and when done properly, weaves can look pretty decent. I took to Twitter to enquire which companies were currently offering the best hair extensions and AU London were one of the brands mentioned to me.
As I began the heady task of researching each company, AU London actually emailed me offering the opportunity to try their hair, which after checking out their website, I accepted. AU London supply 100% Virgin Remy hair extensions and lace closures. The glowing reviews from happy customers made me feel confident that I’d made a good choice.
Presented in an attractive box bearing the brand’s logo, hair is of excellent quality. I’ve put it through its paces by having the ends bleached and tonging it on an almost daily basis, since it was installed. A week on, and I’ve experienced no shedding either. Available in varying lengths, starting from 10″ (£54.99 per bundle) down to a bottom skimming 24″ (£114.99). It also comes in three finishes; straight, loose wave and body wave. I opted for straight in 12″, so I could easily manipulate the look I wanted, should I fancy doing wearing it straight as opposed to wavy, with minimal effort.
AU London have a number of closures available to achieve a realistic parting, available in middle part, three part and freestyle. I had the three part installed, so I could wear my weave with either a side or middle part – so far I’ve preferred leaving it in the middle, but hey, tomorrow I may wear it to the side!
I turned to Andree Marie, who can be found performing hair miracles at award-winning salon, Sandra Webb, in South West London to work her magic on my tresses. A week on and I’m still getting used to my new look but yeah, I’m liking it and I look forward to revisiting Andree Marie in a few weeks for a re-fit and re-style.
Along with a 30 day return policy, AU London are so confident about their product, that they have a 9 month quality guarantee – in the unlikely event you should experience excessive shedding or tangling, they’ll either replace your hair or provide you with money off your next order.
